Living Labs (LLs) are participatory and collaborative platforms that will be established in each partner country to test agroforestry innovations at regional demonstration sites. Together, the consortium and a multi-stakeholder platform will collaborate on the development of innovations and the identification of barriers to their adoption. Partners will build on existing networks and tools while creating and consolidating new ones. The Living Labs will serve both as a source of input for research and as a means for exploiting project results.
Demo sites (DS) will facilitate the creation of on-site knowledge and the implementation and testing of novel agroforestry innovations across all Mediterranean countries. These sites will encompass various agroforestry systems in different locations and under varying climatic conditions. The models were specifically selected to suit the unique conditions of each location and align with national agricultural strategies and climate adaptation plans.
The business models development will target selected agroforestry systems and their associated products, emphasizing the assessment of economic viability by considering both marketable and non-marketable benefits, such as improved ecosystem services and enhanced resilience.
SCALARE dedicates a full WP to the Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation of results. Three main approaches will be used for exploitation: thematic social networks, training of trainers and the expert system.
